| 内容記述 | This study explores generational and sex differences in the use of kakegoe (exclamations)such as dokkoisyo, with regard to 1) use/nonuse in general, 2) frequency of use according to situation, and 3) purpose according to situation. Many people associate the use of kakegoe with old people, but the author wondered if this was really correct and conducted a questionnaire survey of 126 male and female informants of three generations (young, middle-aged and elderly). The result showed: - For both males and females, the elderly informants did not use kakegoe the most frequently They used them a lot, but young informants used them more. - Females used kakegoe more frequently than males. - The informants tended to use kakegoe more when standing up and lifting heavy things, than when sitting down and putting down heavy things. - Regardless of situation and generation, kakegoe were most commonly used ‘unconsciously' when someone was about "to strain themselves". - Young informants (especially females), when they were with their friends, sometimes used kakegoe intentionally for humor and to create a relaxed atmosphere. | |||||
