The greater parts of them were the immigrants from the South-Netherland and the middle-class people with independent enterprising spirit. Between 1630 and 1640 the reder (merchant-manufacturer), a man of enterprise of a new type, emerged and took the place of drapiers, making efforts to the concentration and the expansion of his management. The majority of the drapier lost their independence and became the Zwischen-Meister of the reder.
