His doctrines have been accepted by one part, but rejected by the other. But anyhow, we need to know exactly what his philosophy of education is, and we need to understand precisely what the aims of education in his opinion are, because it is the theme for us now to think about or practise it. At present, when his thought has been accepted by the public, it is unnecessary to oppose his opinion, but for the purpose of renewing education we must criticise it and evolve it. Therefore, I shall try to study what he said i.e. what education was, and what the aims of education in "Democracy and Education", "Experience and Education" and "Reconstruction in Philosophy" were. In these works it is not easy to define the declaration about the principle and the aims of his theories of education, but it seems that the educational task for us is to advance all of his works and not to repeat his words. So, I strongly wish to search out new thought and practice of education based on his theories, and I shall attempt to reform it and, then adapt it to this ever changing world.}, pages = {A131--A144}, title = {ジョン・デューイの教育の目的について}, volume = {5}, year = {1955} }
