This study therefore investigates effects of text colors on the memorization of English vocabulary. It specifically focuses on examining what influence the Stroop Effect may have. The Stroop Effect occurs when the color of a text and the meaning of that text are contradictory.\nNinety-nine students at Tokyo Woman’s Christian University were tested twice on their ability to memorize L2 vocabulary items and their definitions. These subjects were divided into five groups according to the color of the texts in two tests. The first three groups were presented with texts in either black, red, or blue. The fourth group was presented with positive-meaning words colored in red and negativemeaning words colored in blue; and the fifth group was presented with texts in the reverse pattern.\nThe results suggest that, regardless of the Stroop Effect, presenting words in different colors negatively influences the participants’ ability to memorize vocabulary, as Groups 4 and 5 scored lowest on both tests. Group 2, who were presented with red texts, also scored low, while Group 1, who were presented with black texts, scored the highest. These findings indicate that unaccentuated black texts are the best format for presenting vocabulary items to learners.","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_10002_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"東京女子大学言語文化研究会"}]},"item_10002_relation_12":{"attribute_name":"NII論文ID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"40022190144","subitem_relation_type_select":"NAID"}}]},"item_10002_source_id_11":{"attribute_name":"NCID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN10461801","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_10002_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0918-7766","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_10002_text_25":{"attribute_name":"著者名ヨミ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"フジワラ, アヤネ"}]},"item_10002_text_26":{"attribute_name":"ファイル形式","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"application/pdf"}]},"item_10002_text_4":{"attribute_name":"著者名(別表記)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"FUJIWARA, Ayane"}]},"item_10002_text_6":{"attribute_name":"コンテンツの種類","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"紀要論文"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"藤原, 釆音"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"12935","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2020-06-23"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"英単語の記憶と色の関係―英単語を効果的に暗記するために―.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1.0 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"Full_Text FUJIWARA Ayane.pdf","url":"https://twcu.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/26620/files/英単語の記憶と色の関係―英単語を効果的に暗記するために―.pdf"},"version_id":"74886f43-dbf0-4712-894b-67004aa4bfec"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"英単語の記憶と色の関係 : 英単語を効果的に暗記するために","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"英単語の記憶と色の関係 : 英単語を効果的に暗記するために","subitem_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_title":"Effects of Using Colors on Memorizing English Vocabulary","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"4","path":["3318"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2020-06-23"},"publish_date":"2020-06-23","publish_status":"0","recid":"26620","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["英単語の記憶と色の関係 : 英単語を効果的に暗記するために"],"weko_creator_id":"4","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2024-06-19T06:46:31.698655+00:00"}
