| 内容記述 | In the Wakana chapter, after the marriage of Onna San no Miya to Genji, Murasaki no Ue, who sees herself as a mistress in a weak social position, is depicted using a variety of names such as Tai no Ue and Murasaki no Ue. The name Tai no Ue was created to emphasize Genji’s superiority and to show that he treated her as his legal wife even though her original family’s social status was weak. However, in the Wakana chapter, it is revealed that she is distressed by the marriage of Onna San no Miya, who came from a powerful family, while she herself had no guardian. After a while, her name changed from Tai no Ue to Murasaki no Ue, a designation that is used in the Wakamurasaki chapter onwards. The change of name is linked to the plot from the Wakana chapter on. Her final name, Murasaki no Ue, is associated with the whole narrative of Genji and the lady, and anticipates what will happen to them later in the story. | |||||

| 内容記述 | 若菜巻では女三宮の降嫁を機に、己の在り方を見つめ直す紫の上の様子が「対の上」「紫の上」呼称と関連して描かれている。「対の上」は、親の庇護や子に保証されない存在を正妻格に据える〈光源氏〉の超越性を謳う呼称として創作されたが、若菜巻では、社会的保障を持たない紫の上の不安を抉る呼称として使用され、やがて「対の上」は消失し「紫の上」へと移行する。「紫の上」は、若紫巻及びその後の物語内容を内包する呼称である。紫の上の呼称の推移は、若菜巻以降の物語内容の推移と連動しており、紫の上の最終的な呼称は、源氏と紫の上の出逢いの物語を内包し、その後の人生をも塗り重ねる「紫の上」であった。 | |||||
