| 内容記述 | This second part of our study (its third and the fourth sections), the former part (its first and the second sections) of which is already published in the latest issue of our Bulletin (vol. LXVIII (n.1), 2017), focuses directly on the dualistic attitude in Rousseau’s Émile over the Stoicism and Seneca’s thought. The third section ascertains how the author of Émile develops Stoicism in the following two regards: firstly he insists on the fundamental importance of amour de soi as natural source for human action (as caritas sui in Seneca); secondly he takes again Stoic viewpoints about the error of judgement as a principal cause of passion, but especially examining the decisive role in human reasoning of the comparaison much dominant in l’état de la société. This leads therefore to Émile’s ideal, l’homme naturel dans l’état de la société who, referring always to amour de soi, could control properly passions by his sound judgements, which will recall in a certain sense the Stoic ideal as autonomous and self-controlled human being, while Rousseau is far more sensitive than Seneca and the Stoics to the existential aspect implied in this comparison. More decisive for our study is, however, the fact that our author never ceases to pay intensive attention to the positive importance of the passions. This suggests explicitly his anti-Stoicism, in terms of which, particularly, the fourth book of Émile regards pitié, attacked severely by the Stoics because of its vulgar sentimentalism, rather as a basic moral element newly (differently than in Discours sur l’inégalité) integrated in the fundamental ethics of amour de soi. In this sense, our fourth section makes it clear that, while requiring autonomous strength of human beings, Émile never forgets to base its ethical thought on this careful awareness towards their primordial fragility as human fundamental passivity. But, this dualism thus confirmed in the two sections of our study of Stoicism and anti-Stoicism, coexisting in Émile, concerns not only its ethical thought, but also its aesthetics suggested mainly around the final part of its fourth Book, discourses about goût. This will be examined in the fifth and final section of our study to appear in the next issue of this Bulletin. |

| 内容記述 | 本研究はこの最終部で、既に本紀要に発表した前半部（第六八巻（一号）、二〇一七年）を受けた上で、ルソー『エミール』の倫理思想におけるストア主義の二重性を集中的に論じる。 本論第一部では、ルソーの同時代におけるストア派およびセネカの受容そして『エミール』冒頭で引用されるセネカの発言の前提するストア的情念論を概観した。その上で、この本論後半部では、『 エミール』におけるストア主義的側面とこれとは対立する反ストア主義的側面をそれぞれ第三節と第四節で検証する。第三節では、『 エミール』におけるストア主義との発展的繋がりを、人間の行動原理である「自己愛」を重視する立場、そして情念論の要とストア派がみなした「判断」という契機を巡りルソー独自の「比較」を強調する立場に見出す。それは、「社会状態」の「比較」から生じる様々な「情念」に流されずむしろ健全な「比較」による「判断」によって「社会状態における自然人」という自律的存在の育成を目指す方向性である。この意味で『エミール』は、ストア的賢人の理想を確かに発展的に継承する。しかしながら、『 エミール』の著者は、ストア派より遥かに「判断」の「比較」が社会関係において孕む実存的次元に敏感であったし、更に決定的なことに「比較」と不可分な「情念」の積極的価値を決して蔑ろにしなかった。これが、『 エミール』第四篇でのセネカを含めストア派が絶えず批判した「憐れみ」の（「自己愛」の倫理によって更に裏打ちされた）積極的位置付けにおいて前景化する反ストア主義的立場を構成する。『 エミール』は、言わばストア派的な自律的な「人間の強さ」を求めると同時に、根源的受動性たる「人間の弱さ」への眼差しを常に前提するということである。 しかし本論が最終的に着目したいのは、このストア主義と反ストア主義の二重性が、『 エミール』第四篇最後で展開される「趣味」論において与える重要な示唆である。次号に掲載予定の本論最終部（第五章）はこれを明らかにすることを目指す。 |
